Crashes closed lanes and caused major delays on Interstate 95 in Broward and Florida’s Turnpike in Miami-Dade on Friday, according to video and the Florida Highway Patrol.
The first crash happened at around 5:47 a.m. in the southbound lanes of Florida’s Turnpike at mile marker 8 in Miami-Dade.
The roadway was completely shut down due to what the Florida Highway Patrol described as a “vehicle crash w/ injuries and roadblock.”
Video showed drivers getting by on the shoulder lane as crews worked the scene.
At around 6:32 p.m. troopers responded to another crash on I-95 southbound in Broward.
At least three lanes were blocked as emergency crews responded to the scene at Stirling Road. Drivers are advised to take Florida’s Turnpike or U.S. 441 as an alternate route.
More information on who was hurt or what led to the crashes was not immediately available.
