A man was rushed to a trauma center by air rescue Wednesday after his vehicle was struck by a Brightline train in North Miami.
The crash occurred along Biscayne Boulevard near Northeast 141st Street, not far from a local car dealership. Witnesses said the driver appeared to be an older man and was still moving inside the vehicle after the impact while people nearby shouted for help.
Emergency crews arrived quickly and transported him by helicopter due to the severity of his injuries. Authorities have not released his identity or additional details about what led to the collision.
The crossing gate in the area was heavily damaged, and Brightline trains were forced to slow down while investigators worked the scene. The train involved came to a stop several hundred feet past the point of impact.
No one else was hurt, and officials said the driver is receiving treatment.
