A deadly wreck early Thursday shut down the eastbound side of NW 36th Street just before Milam Dairy Road, according to Miami-Dade authorities.
Deputies said the crash happened around 6 a.m. and involved two vehicles. Investigators believe the man at the center of the crash first collided with another car and then veered off the road, where his SUV struck a tree.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue rushed him to a nearby hospital, but he later died from his injuries. Officials have not yet released his identity. The woman driving the other vehicle was not injured.
Footage from the area showed the SUV heavily damaged next to a downed palm tree as deputies diverted traffic around the crash site, causing major delays. Miami-Dade’s Traffic Homicide Unit is continuing to investigate what led up to the crash.
