Rob Reiner and his wife Michele were found dead inside their home on Sunday.
Investigators believe the couple suffered stab wounds, according to a law enforcement official who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity.
Reiner’s son, Nick, has been taken into custody. The 32-year-old remained behind bars Monday and online records show dance was set at $4 million.
Rob was a director, producer and actor who gained fame with his role as Mike on the Norman Lear sitcom All in the Family. As a director, he has helmed beloved films like This Is Spinal Tap (1984), Stand by Me (1986), The Princess Bride (1987), When Harry Met Sally… (1989), Misery (1990) and A Few Good Men (1992).
Reiner co-founded Castle Rock Entertainment, which produced “The Shawshank Redemption,” “Dolores Claiborne,” “The Green Mile” and “Needful Things.”
He and Michele met when Rob directed When Harry Met Sally, and the couple married in 1989 before having three children.
The investigation is ongoing.
