A man is facing charges after cameras captured a wild brawl broke out at a Miami-Dade Publix on Thursday, authorities said.
The chaos erupted inside the grocery store along Southwest 163rd Street and Southwest 95th Avenue.
According to an arrest report, the store’s security guard said two groups were involved in a verbal altercation that quickly escalated to a fight. The suspect, 20-year-old Climont Mann, grabbed a metal shelf from a display and started beating three people with it, the report said. Video from Only in Dade showed the shirtless man swinging the shelf around as other people tussle on the floor and another group is engaged in a fight.
A Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputy responded to the store and found two large groups of people outside throwing plates and other items at each other, the report said.
More deputies responded and were able to get things under control.
Fire rescue crews also responded and treated people at the scene and took two people to the hospital.
Mann was arrested on charges including aggravated battery, criminal mischief and disorderly conduct.
