One person has been airlifted to the hospital following a crash involving two tractor-trailers on West Okeechobee Road in Miami-Dade County, first responders confirmed.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash was reported at about 6:55 a.m. Wednesday on West Okeechobee Road and Northwest 170th Street.
Troopers said the tractor-trailers collided at the intersection and both vehicles overturned, “spilling fuel and debris onto the roadway.”
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue personnel confirmed one adult was airlifted to the trauma center at HCA Florida Kendall Hospital.
Troopers said that driver sustained serious injuries in the crash, while the other driver was not injured. MDFR units are currently at the scene working to mitigate the fuel leak caused by the crash.
Troopers said the northbound lanes of Okeechobee Road remain closed at this time.
