A massive fire that erupted Thursday at a large warehouse in northwest Miami-Dade continued to burn Friday.
On Friday morning, the orange haze and smoke was still visible in the sky.
The view was different, however, from the thick black plume of smoke that was visible in the area when the fire erupted around 11 a.m. Thursday.
But police and fire rescue crews are still out at the scene in the 20600 block of Northwest 47th Avenue fighting the flames and blocking off the entrance road to the Global Warehouse Solutions warehouse.
Some rain fell Friday morning, which will hopefully help extinguish the flames.Into the night and morning, Miami-Dade firefighters battled the fire burning inside the packaging center warehouse.
The blaze was so intense, the call was upgraded to a fifth-alarm fire, meaning a handful of other agencies, including Miramar Fire Rescue, were called to help Miami-Dade firefighters conquer the blaze.
A public safety alert was sent out to people in the area around 1:30 p.m. Thursday, warning folks — especially those with medical or respiratory issues — to stay indoors because of the wind conditions and smoke coming from the fire.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. No injuries were reported as a result of the blaze.
