Leading Causes of 18-Wheeler Accidents
In south Florida, there are large 18-wheelers everywhere. Most drivers who spend time on the highways and roads will see multiple trucks on their daily commute to and from work. The problem is that due to the size of large trucks, truck drivers have difficulty navigating through traffic and as a result, accidents happen. The first challenge that often comes up in semi-truck accident cases is identifying who is the proper parties that are responsible for the injuries and damage caused in the truck accident. Accomplishing this task will often depend on the nature of the truck driver involved in the accident in terms of his or her relationship with the trucking company. If the truck driver was an employee of a trucking company, then both the driver and the trucking company would likely be named as defendants.
However, if the truck driver was operating as a sole proprietor or as an independent contractor, the situation becomes much less clear. If you have been injured in a truck accident, it’s in your best interest to work with a truck accident attorney as soon as possible.
