If you would like to obtain compensation for an injury you or your loved one suffered in a  car crash, you will have to prove that the accident caused your injury. To accomplish this,  you will have to prove that the other driver was negligent. You may be wondering what  exactly amounts to negligence in the context of motor vehicle accidents. It can be difficult  as each accident is different and there are many ways a driver can be found to have been  negligent while operating a vehicle. For example, in some cases, determining liability is  simple. For instance, drivers who rear end other drivers are typically considered to have

been negligent. In contrast, other car accident cases can be more difficult to deal with.  Head on collision cases that take place in intersections can be difficult to deal with  because it can be difficult to determine which driver ran the red light. Things like police  accident reports, surveillance cameras, witness testimony, and photos are extremely  helpful when trying to determine liability issues after a car accident. Next, any damages  that arise from the accident would be the financial responsibility of the negligent driver.  Economic damages are those damages that have a clear price tag attached, like medical  bills, damage to property, loss of wages, or other out of pocket costs. On the contrary,  non-economic damages are those damages that are harder to place a dollar value on  because they are not easily determinable. Non-economic damages include pain and  suffering, disability or disfigurement, loss of quality of life, and more. Most car accident related personal injury cases are resolved through settlement negotiations between the  injured victim and the at-fault party. The at-fault party’s insurance company typically  prefers to settle personal injury cases as quickly as possible to avoid further losses. This  is because if your claim is not paid or if you simply can’t agree to a settlement figure, a  lawsuit will be filed, and it will cost the at-fault party’s insurer substantially more money to  defend and litigate your case.
