Wrong Way Car Accidents in Miami
Car accidents are one of the leading causes of injury and death in both the state of Florida and nationwide. Wrong way car crashes are extremely common in South Florida. If you or someone you know has suffered injuries from a wrong-way car accident, a car accident attorney at Suarez & Montero can help in getting you the compensation you deserve. Wrong way car crashes are usually caused by drunk drivers or distracted drivers. Drunk driving causes a high percentage of wrong way car crashes because alcohol hinders a driver’s ability to properly maneuver a car in and around traffic. Alcohol also affects a driver’s judgment, muscle control, vision, and overall results in a loss in the ability to quickly react to sudden changes on the road. As for distracted driving, there are generally three types that can be attributed to wrong way car accidents. The first type is a visual distraction which is a distraction that takes a driver’s eyes off of the roadway. The second type is a manual distraction which takes a driver’s hands off of the steering wheel. The third type is cognitive which occurs when a driver takes their mind off of driving and is not actively paying attention to the other cars, objects, and pedestrians on the road. Basically, any behavior that shifts a driver’s attention away from the task of driving is considered to be a distractor and can lead to serious accidents such as wrong way car accidents. Wrong way accidents can result in serious medical injuries including back and spinal cord injuries, lacerations, broken limbs, head injuries, or can be fatal.
