According to a spokesperson for the Miami-Dade Police, an off-duty nurse who stopped at the scene of a car crash to help injured passengers was killed last week on I-95 when a car hit her before speeding off. Shortly before 2 a.m. on Sunday, as she headed home from work, the woman stopped at the scene of a rollover accident to see if she could be of assistance. Police officers who arrived at the scene of the accident were informed that the good Samaritan, who stopped to render aid to a passenger in the rolled over vehicle, was struck by a driver in a white BMW sedan that then fled. The woman was hit as she was walking to the accident. Unfortunately, the nurse was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Officers located the owner of the white BMW a short time afterwards and arrested the alleged driver. The man was charged with driving under the influence of liquor or drugs resulting in death and leaving the scene of an accident. No further details have been released at this time.
Florida Car Accident Lawyers
Florida personal injury laws were designed to place a car accident victim back where they were prior to being injured by a negligent party. Florida car accident claims can be asserted against individuals or businesses who are responsible for your injury and/or property damage. An injured plaintiff may recover damages for medical expenses, lost wages, mental anguish, lost enjoyment of life, future expenses and several other well recognized damages. If you have little experience with car accident injury claims, there is an awful lot you need to familiarize yourself with before filing a claim or lawsuit. Additionally, dealing with an insurance company on your own can be difficult. Here are some of the many ways a personal injury lawyer can help you with your car accident case:
Provide Legal Advice: When you ask a law firm for legal information, you are simply asking the law firm to give you a course of action based on the specific facts that are applicable to your car accident case. Based on the legal advice you receive; you will likely decide to do or not do something to protect your legal rights.
Negotiate: Negotiation can take place any time before during or after the litigation process. A competent personal injury lawyer can negotiate on your behalf with the at-fault party in order to settle your claim and maximize the amount of compensation received.
Litigate: Litigation is pretty much the most aggressive form of legal advocacy available. In most cases, litigation is not the first step. However, litigation should follow if efforts to resolve a claim are unfruitful. Just keep in mind that taking a case to trial can be expensive and no client should ever want to willingly engage in litigation unless they absolutely need to.
