According to a spokesperson for the Fort Lauderdale Police Department, on August 29th at about 10am, a woman drove her car right into a canal near Northeast 68th Street in Fort Lauderdale. The woman was headed westbound on NE 68th Street when she abruptly crashed right through a steel barricade and into the canal below. Witnesses say that the woman did not appear to slow down or stop the vehicle before crashing into the barricade. A good Samaritan who had been out jogging with his wife along with two men on a boat were able to help extricate the woman until emergency first responders arrived on the scene. Although Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue and Pompano Beach Fire Rescue arrived on the scene quickly, the woman had already been brought to safety. The woman was transported by Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue to a nearby hospital with minor injuries. No further details were released as the Fort Lauderdale Police Department Is still conducting an investigation as to the cause of the accident.
Getting The Compensation You Deserve After a Car Accident
A crash can have damaging consequences; even a small or minor motor vehicle accident can result in thousands of dollars in damages, including property damage, injuries, medical expenses, lost wages, pain and suffering, and pain and suffering. Statistics and data from the NHTSA states that car accidents create almost $850 billion in damages each year in the United States. When you compare the figures on a state by state basis, Florida ranks among the highest in accident costs in the United States. Unfortunately, most injury victims have the belief that by simply obtaining insurance coverage, the costs of medical expenses and all property damage to their vehicle will absolutely be covered, this is not the case. Auto Insurance providers, like any business is designed to generate profits. As a result, auto insurance companies are often unwilling to simply pay out benefits without creating some hurdles for the insured. As such, many car accident claims can take longer than they should to get resolved. This is compounded with the fact that accident victims may also be dealing with medical issues and may have lost their job due to their injuries. It’s no surprise that so many injury victims end up settling their claim for much less than what they are actually entitled to. Auto Insurers try to keep their costs low by hiring lawyers to represent their needs and interest against policyholders. You should hire a lawyer to advocate on your behalf and fight to protect your rights and interests too. At Suarez & Montero, we can work with you to make sure you get the compensation you are entitled to so that you can cover medical expenses, lost wages, pain and suffering, and other costs.
