A 59-year-old man passed away almost two weeks after being involved in a crash with a semi-truck.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office (PBSO) reported that the crash took place on August 27 in the 8700 block of US Highway 27 South, south of South Bay.
According to the crash report, the Fidel Leon Pomares was driving a Nissan Altima northbound on US 27, approaching a right-hand curve.
Investigators determined the Miami man failed to stay in his lane while making the turn and ended up driving in the southbound lanes of US 27, directly in the path of a semi-truck.
The front of the Nissan collided with the driver’s side of the semi-truck and then spun into the grass area of the median.
The driver of the Nissan was taken to Saint Mary’s Medical Center in serious condition and unfortunately passed away from his injuries 13 days later on September 9.
