Officials are diverting traffic on the MacArthur Causeway as they investigate a deadly accident between Fountain Street and Bridge Road, causing heavy delays.
According to Miami Beach Police, a motorcyclist and a sedan were involved in a crash shortly after 4:00 a.m. on Thursday.
The motorcyclist was transported to Jackson Memorial Ryder Trauma, where they, unfortunately, succumbed to their injuries.
The road between Fountain Street and Bridge Road was completely closed as a large contingent of police was seen investigating the incident.
Heavy delays and stop-and-go traffic were seen as motorists attempting to travel eastbound towards the beach were being forced to make a U-turn on Fountain Street back to I-95.
Drivers traveling towards the area are advised to use either the Venetian Causeway or the Julia Tuttle Causeway as an alternative.
The circumstances surrounding the crash are currently unclear.
