One person was killed and others were hospitalized after a fiery two-vehicle crash Sunday evening in Hollywood, police said.
The collision happened around 5:40 p.m. at the intersection of Sheridan Street and North 40th Avenue. Hollywood Police officers confirmed one person died at the scene, while others were transported to Memorial Regional Hospital. Their conditions were not immediately released.
A video captured by a passing driver showed one of the vehicles fully engulfed in flames, with thick black smoke rising into the air.
According to police, the two cars collided shortly after 5:30 p.m. The intersection was shut down for several hours as emergency crews responded and investigators processed the scene.
The Hollywood Police Department’s Traffic Homicide Investigation Unit is leading the investigation. Authorities have not yet released the identity of the deceased or details about what caused the crash.
