One Man Dies After Single Car Collision with Tree

According to a spokesperson for the police department, one person is dead following a Friday evening crash at the intersection of Kendall Drive and 137th Avenue in SW Miami-Dade. Police, fire, and medics were dispatched to the scene of the crash at about 10:30pm. Police officials said that the driver was headed eastbound on Kendall Drive when he failed to stop at the stop sign, proceeded across 137th Avenue and jumped a curb and stuck a tree. The Florida Highway Patrol was also dispatched to the scene of the accident. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue arrived on the scene and took the man to Baptist Hospital where he was later pronounced dead as he succumbed from his injuries. The man’s name has not been released. Police quickly shut down the road between 137th Avenue and Kendall Drive to investigate the accident scene but it has since been reopened. The crash remains under investigation by the Miami-Dade Police Department.
