According to a spokesperson for the Broward Police department, a 50-year-old man was fatally struck by a car Monday October 12, 2020. The incident occurred in the area of Sample Road and Northwest Fifth Street. The man was crossing the street after leaving a nearby store to get back home when he was struck by a vehicle whose driver never stopped. The Broward police department says the driver of the Honda Element returned to the scene and is cooperating with police detectives. The man was taken to a local hospital after the crash, where he succumbed to his injuries. His relatives question why the driver initially left the scene. Authorities have not said whether the driver will face charges or be cited. No further details have been released.
