This Wednesday, a train from the Metrorail in Miami derailed and collided with another unit in a yard located in northwest Miami-Dade.
According to preliminary reports, the collision occurred in the morning, although the presence of passengers on board at the time of impact has not been confirmed.
The incident occurred at the facilities of the company Florida East Coast Railway, specifically at Hialeah Yard, located at 7500 Northwest 69th Avenue.
The Miami-Dade Transit Department issued an alert to passengers at 6:11 a.m. informing that the Green Line Metrorail service was operational, while the Airport Shuttle was servicing between Earlington Heights and the Airport Metrorailstation.
Authorities have cordoned off the affected area and are continuing to investigate the causes of the derailment and collision.
No injuries have been reported, but the presence of substantial damage on both trains has raised concerns about the maintenance and operating conditions of the Metrorail railway network
