3 People Hospitalized After Boat Hits Channel Marker

Three people have been hospitalized following a single-boat collision in Sarasota. A  spokesperson for the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission says they received a call from the Sarasota Police Department at around 2pm yesterday about a  boat accident with injuries near Flamingo Avenue. The FWC, Sarasota Police  Department, Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office, and Sarasota County Fire/EMS all  responded to the scene. Officials say a 22-foot vessel with six people aboard was on  plane when it hit a channel marker and a seawall. Three of the people received injuries,  varying in severity, and were taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital. The FWC is  investigating the crash and will provide additional information as it becomes available. No  further details have been released.

Boat Accident Attorneys in Miami & Broward

Have you or someone you love been involved in a boating accident in South Florida? Boat accidents can result in major property damage, serious injuries and can have a  devastating impact on your family’s quality of life. If you or someone you love are injured  in a boat accident through no fault of your own, you may have a legal case or legal claim  that can result in a settlement for monetary damages. Many people involved in a boat  accident have a personal injury case and don’t even realize it. If the accident is bad  enough or the injuries are serious enough, it may be necessary to get a lawyer or attorney  involved to file a lawsuit against the person who caused the accident or injuries. Insurance  companies do not have your best interests in mind. When you have an accident, you need  strong legal representation. The personal injury lawyers at Suarez & Montero can help  you get the compensation you deserve.

Mistakes to Avoid After a Boat Accident

Declining Medical Treatment: In my experience, one of the most common mistakes  people make after a boat accident is that they don’t get medical treatment right away.  Additionally, another mistake people make is that they don’t follow their doctor’s medical  advice which is critical to making sure the recovery process goes smoothly.

Providing Recorded Statements: The next common mistake injury victims make after  a boat accident is providing a recorded statement to an insurance company. Remember,  the insurance company’s adjuster is not your friend. Their job is not to fairly compensate  you for your claim. Instead, their job is to limit the exposure of their employer—the  insurance company. Insurance adjusters are trained to try and fool you into giving  answers to questions that are misleading.

Not Hiring an Attorney: Another mistake I commonly see is injury victims that delay in  hiring an attorney to represent them. Don’t make that mistake. An attorney is needed to  fully investigate your claim as soon as possible. An attorney can also help prepare you  for a recorded statement if your insurance company requires it. In addition, some injury  victims make the mistake of hiring the wrong attorney for their boat accident claim. The  wrong attorney is someone who doesn’t have a large part of their practice devoted to  personal injury law. Personal injury law is very distinct from other types of law.
