Civil rights icon Rev. Jesse Jackson and legendary actor Robert Duvall have both died, marking the loss of two influential figures in American history and culture.
Jackson, 84, died following a lengthy illness. The longtime activist worked alongside Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., founded the Rainbow PUSH Coalition, and twice ran for U.S. president. Over decades, he pushed for voting rights, corporate diversity, and social justice causes, remaining active in civil rights efforts well into his later years.
Duvall, 95, died peacefully at his Virginia home, according to his family. The Oscar-winning actor was known for iconic roles in films such as The Godfather, Apocalypse Now, and Tender Mercies, earning widespread recognition for his decades-long career and multiple award-winning performances.
Both men leave behind lasting legacies in their respective fields.
