Driver Dead After Crash Involving Dump Truck In Doral

A woman has died after a crash involving a dump truck that rolled over in Doral. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue crews and Doral Police responded to the scene along the westbound lanes of Northwest 36th Street and 82nd Avenue at approximately 11:45 a.m., Monday. According to police, the driver of the dump truck had swerved to avoid hitting the woman’s car, but that may have inadvertently caused the truck to land on top of the car. They also added that two other vehicles were involved in the crash. Firefighters could be seen shoveling out dirt from the dump truck that landed on top of the red car. A technical response team responded to the scene to rescue the trapped driver in the red car, but she succumbed to her injuries at the scene. A yellow tarp could be seen covering part of the red car. Crews up-righted the dump truck and towed it away from the area. The area where the crash happened had been blocked off while Miami-Dade Police investigators looked into what happened. The area has since reopened to traffic.

Hidden Injuries To Watch Out For After a Car Accident

Organ damage: Internal injuries are often the most difficult injuries to deal with after a crash. Their effect can be traumatic. Some of the most common internal injuries include broken and fractured ribs, punctured lungs, internal bruising, etc. Your liver and kidneys are also susceptible to injury in a car crash because neither organ is protected by bones.

Traumatic Brain Injuries: Traumatic brain injuries are also common in auto accidents, even relatively mild fender benders. In fact, modern medicine is realizing that undiagnosed mild traumatic brain injury (TBI) is unfortunately common after automobile accidents. The symptoms include nausea, vomiting, chronic headaches, forgetfulness, insomnia, and seizures. Any fogginess, quick blackouts, or inability to remember (also called focal amnesia) is a part of a traumatic brain injury. Doctors are still learning about this injury, but we know it can occur even when the skull is not wounded. The sheer force of a car crash can cause the brain to collide against the hard bone inside the skull.

Nerve damage: Nerve injuries are classified by levels of severity, from neurapraxia, the mildest form, to brachial plexus avulsion, when the nerve root is torn from your spine. Whiplash is a kind of nerve damage where your head whips back and forth, stretching or pinching your nerves. Even the mildest forms of nerve damage can take months to heal. Some never heal.
