A dump truck driver died Wednesday morning after a tire burst on the Dolphin Expressway in Miami-Dade, officials said.
The incident happened around 10:20 a.m. in the westbound lanes near Northwest 137th Avenue, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Authorities said the truck had been pulled over after developing a flat tire, and the driver called for roadside assistance.
Troopers said the tire exploded while it was being filled with air, striking the driver and causing fatal injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officials have not yet released the driver’s name as the investigation continues.
