According to a spokesperson for the Broward Police Department, a rescue crew extricated a man from his vehicle after his car went into a canal in Broward. The crash took place last week as tropical storm Eta left streets and roadways across South Florida flooded. The Broward Fire Rescue crew arrived at the scene of the crash which was in the area of NW 42nd Avenue and 21st Street. A spokesperson for Broward Fire Rescue says that due to widespread flooding caused by Tropical Storm Eta, floodwaters concealed the canal beyond the roadway, causing the driver to go into the water. Rescue divers broke the car’s window to extricate the man from his vehicle. No one else was in the vehicle. He was transported to Broward Health Medical Center in critical medical condition. City officials have since put cones along Northwest 21st Street to advise drivers to avoid the roadway. No further details have been released.
