Police Investigating 2 Deadly Boating Accidents Off Florida Keys

Police are investigating two separate deadly boating accidents that took place in the Florida Keys on Friday. Both accidents occurred within hours of each other. According to a spokesperson for the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, the initial crash occurred during the day just after 12:30 p.m. on a Sunset Watersports parasailing ship off the coast of Key West. Two passengers were seriously injured in the crash, one with life-threatening injuries. Unfortunately, the man was later pronounced dead at the hospital. The woman is still in critical condition. The second crash occurred a few hours later around 6 p.m. on the same day. The accident took place off the long key bridge near Mile Marker 70 and five passengers were onboard. According to a police official who responded to the scene, the accident took place when the 36-foot vessel hit a channel marker and sent four of the five passengers off the vessel, killing one. Both accidents are being investigated for the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
